The 2020 Wave 1 updates will be released from April to September of 2020. A primary goal of these updates is to promote automation and predictive analytics so that CFOs and other leaders can turn their attention to strategic concerns rather than getting bogged down in daily execution. Updates will also support risk management, performance improvements, and usability for every member of your finance team.
Update: Prohibit submission to workflow when the invoice total and registered invoice total are not equal
This month’s featured update is designed to streamline and reduce errors in the vendor invoice submission process. To do that, the system will prevent submission of the invoice to the workflow when the invoice total and registered invoice total do not match.
Here’s what that means in practical terms. The update allows you to:
How does this update deliver value to your business?
This update identifies discriminations in the invoice totals before they are submitted and ensures that those errors can be corrected immediately, before clogging up your workflow. Ultimately, it prevents errors and saves valuable time both for submitters and approvers.
Microsoft’s goal in providing these monthly updates is to streamline the D365 experience for every user and to make sure you have access to all of the most recent capabilities and benefits. By implementing relevant updates on a more frequent basis, the continuous update deployment model ensures that you always have the most recent version of the platform and that you have access to all capabilities and improvements. While that may sound disruptive, Microsoft provides update schedules well in advance so you can create a plan for your updates and testing. There is also a buffer week for testing before the automatic update takes effect.
Before any update release, you will be able to download the release schedule, test new features, and schedule a time for your update. Any major, disruptive changes will be turned off by default and administrators will need to “opt in” by enabling them after the update.
